HEARINGS - BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND ZONING HEARING BOARD

Held upon Public Notice

1. The Zoning Hearing Board has scheduled a hearing for Case No. 2019-005 on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 7:00 pm.  The applicant has requested a variance to to be able keep and maintain two emotional support chickens (poultry) on a property that is less than five acres in size.  See the Attachment below for more details about this hearing.

2. The Township Board of Commissioners has secheduled a plublic hear to review and discuss and hear comments with regards to the proposed amemdment to the Township Comprehensive Plan titled "SWATARA RISING 2025".  The document can be viewed by going to the township web site www.swataratwp.com, and then clicking on "Planning Department" under the DEPARTMENTS tab.  There are a number of documents listed there that discuss the planning process and the public opinion survey that was conducted in 2018.  The proposed Plan Amendment is shown as "Part 1" and "Part 2" for easier downloading and viewing.  The public hearing is required as part of the process for a municipality to adopt a new comprehensive plan or update an existing one.  The hearing is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.  The Board will begin its regular monthly business meeting at 7:00 pm, and then pause to conduct the public hearing at 7:30 pm.  At the conclusion of the public hearing the Board will resume its business meeting.  The Board may then consider a Resolution to adopt the amendment to the Township Comprehensive Plan.  The public notice that was published in the Patriot News newspaper is attached below.

3. See the Attachment below for a Public Notice of a Conditional Use hearing being held by the Township Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 7:15 pm.  This hearing was commenced at the time and date as advertised.  However, the hearing was not completed, and the Board of Commissioners held the hearing over until Wednesday, November 13th at 8:00 pm.  The exhibits presented by the Applicant are posted on this web site.  More testimony was provided by the Applicant, and Parties to the Hearing began the cross-examination of two of the Applicant's experts.  The meeting went on for another 1 hour and 45 minutes.  At that time the hearing was halted, and the Commissioners announced a further continuance of the hearing.  The hearing is now set to reconvene on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm.  Affected parties and interested citizens may still attend and provide comments and ask questions.  See the Attachment below for the Notice for the initial hearing.
