Historic Sites

The Swatara Township Recreation Department operates and maintains ten neighborhood park sites which comprise fifty acres throughout the Township. Park sites consist of eight tennis courts, nine baseball fields, two multipurpose fields, ten basketball courts, seven rest room facilities, one recreation center, five volleyball courts and nine tot areas.

Park sites are open daily from dawn to dusk, except for Chambers Hill, Enhaut and Lawnton. These parks are open daily from dawn until 9:30p.m.

Dogs are permitted on Township facilities but must be on a six-foot leash and must be curbed.

Recreation PlaygroundThe Recreation Department runs a summer playground program for eight weeks from mid-June to the beginning of August. Five playgrounds are staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Activities are provided free of charge to children ages three to fifteen.

The Recreation Department will reserve park pavilions at no cost to the public. Reservations must be made in advance by contacting the recreation office. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on Township facilities.

The Township's Park and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational and leisure services. Activities sponsored by the Recreation Department include day bus trips, special interest programs, aerobic and dance programs and child development programs.
